(Im)perfect II

Oil on linen

(Im)perfect explores the complex theme of self-image through a portrait of an elbow. This work is rooted in my personal research into the definition of perfection and imperfection. The painting presents a subtle cast of an elbow, transformed into an almost abstract composition. With the smoothness of plaster retained, the elbow vividly contrasts against an olive green background, distorting and alienating the traditional perspective of the body. This deliberate alienation invites the viewer to engage in slow observation and a moment of silent reflection. What initially appears as a natural phenomenon reveals upon closer inspection a body part.
